Emergency services now know exactly which desk called
Per-extension dispatchable location: each extension carries its own registered civic address, delivered with the call to the PSAP rather than a single address for the account.
Emergency location is now resolved per extension rather than per telephone number.
Each extension carries its own registered civic address — building, floor, suite — and that address is delivered with the call to the Public Safety Answering Point handling it.
Implementation
- Location is bound to the extension, independent of the outbound caller ID or the trunk the call egresses on.
- Delivered on the call path. The registered address travels with the 911 call rather than being looked up from account records.
- Aligned to the egress carrier. Location records are provisioned against the carrier actually handling 911 for that number, so the address on file and the address delivered are the same record.
Verification
Dial 933 from any extension for a readback of its registered address. 933 is a carrier test service and does not contact emergency services.
Re-verify after any handset move, extension renumber, or site addition — the registered address does not follow a phone when it physically moves.
