Every call now comes with a quality score
Per-call RTCP metrics — packet loss, jitter, round-trip time and media experience score — recorded against every call record for inbound, outbound and internal calls.
Every call record now carries the RTCP media statistics for that call.
Metrics are captured from the channel at hangup and written against the call record, giving a per-call measurement of the media path rather than an inference from signalling.
Metrics captured
- Packet loss, transmit and receive, as reported by both endpoints.
- Jitter, transmit and receive, in milliseconds.
- Round-trip time derived from RTCP sender/receiver reports.
- Media Experience Score, a 0–100 quality rating for each direction.
Covers inbound, outbound and internal calls.
Interpreting the data
Each figure is presented against the median for your account, segmented by call direction, so a call can be assessed relative to your own baseline rather than a generic threshold.
Scores cluster near the upper bound of the scale on healthy calls — G.711 imposes its own ceiling irrespective of network conditions. The diagnostic signal is deviation below your established baseline, not the absolute value.
Where a far-end carrier does not return RTCP receiver reports, the affected direction is reported as unavailable rather than zero. This is common on inbound PSTN calls and does not indicate degradation.
Metrics are written to the call record shortly after the call ends.
